The Gróf Széchenyi István Memorial started with the victory of Gábor Szabó and Timpex Fényév
The National Riding Hall was packed today for the 31st Gróf Széchenyi István Memorial. After last year’s great success, nearly 170 horsemen from 11 nations will compete during the four-day riding event.
Hungarian winner in the competition for young horses
On Thursday in the opening competition for 6-to-7-year-old horses at 120-125 cm there was only one foreign rider in the top ten. The winner of the competition was Roland Kovács on the filly Senora Monalisa, owned by István Kis. The second place went to Ching, winner of the Indoor Final for 6-year-old horses with László Tóth. The Slovakian Tomas Kuchar and his horse, History Bridge, took the bronze medal.
Hungarian-bred Horses on the Podium in the Silver Tour
The Silver Tour, a competition against the clock at 130 cm, was next on the program. Member of the Hungarian National team, Szabolcs Krucsó, proved to be the fastest on his mare, Lady Winner, owned by Sion Security Kft. Second place went to Barna Burucs and Avantgarde-C, bred by Castilia Kft. Martin Reischl finished third in Latino’s saddle.
Tight Competition in the U25 Cup
In the competition for young riders, Barna Burucs won on Limited Edition-C followed by only one tenth of second by Máté Szladek in the saddle of Gidran’s XXVII-4 Bohém. Third place went to lady rider Csenge Ágoston on Cassiona DL.
Hungarian National Anthem in the Gold Tour
The Gold Tour, a competition with highest obstacles at 140 cm, was also won by a Hungarian rider. Last year’s competition started with the victory of Gábor Szabó Jr. and Timpex Bölcsész, and history almost repeated itself. “Gabó” who rode Timpex Fényév this time took the gold place again in a field of 77 competitors.
The last rider, Balázs Horváth finished second very close. Third place was taken by Ferenc Szentirmai, born in Hungary but presently competing for Ukraine. Fourth place went to the Bulgarian Angel Niagolov, and fifth to Slovakian rider, Andrej Holly. Ádám Faluhelyi was very succesful last year as well, finishing in sixth place on Filigree.
Speedy Rounds in the VIP Tour
In the closing completion of the day presented by VIP Tour, amateur and young riders competed at 110 cm.
The winner was Péter Kollár with a confident ride, ahead of Panna Sára Tóth and her horse Troestruplunds Charism. Zsanett Dobozi on Jacline took bronze on the podium.
